surf dreams

Blog - 34.surfdreamsThe first time I surfed was almost five years ago when I lived in Australia. Ever since then I have been hooked! Often I feel I belong on the beach, living the surf dream. Since my first time surfing, I try to surf at least once a year, usually based on where I get the opportunity to travel. I have yet to go surfing in 2014 and as the year is quickly flying by I have been dreaming of surfing. I am definitely no pro but that doesn’t mean I can’t dream of my life as a surfer gal. surf dreams photo credit

I am dying to get one into my home. Surfboard art would be the perfect reminder of the surreal feeling of riding a wave.

sweet sweet sangria

Blog - 32.sangriasummer sangria: tropical faux-gria, rose-white peach

I do love a good summer sangria. It is definitely my summer drink of choice. There are so many options and whether you make it or order it, it is ALWAYS different. It is one of those drinks where anything goes. As long as your sangria has wine + fruit, you’re good to go. Try adding some special ingredients and experiment – you will be surprised how hard it is to fail.

Here are some of my choices … Which will you try?
Blog - 32.sangria1
cucumber sangria. strawberry + peach sangria. mango-peach sangria. pineapple mojito sangria.

Blog - 32.sangria2
thai-basil sangria. sherry-sangria cocktail. white sangria. white grape sangria.

Conclusion … sangria = always a good idea!

Now go outside and make sure you have a sangria in hand.

I am going to try something new … here it goes!

One of my favourite things about summer (besides the warmth + sunshine) is the fruit! Watermelon is one of my all-time fave summer fruits. It is so delicious, refreshing, and beautiful. It’s also pretty fun and there are unlimited ways to eat and enjoy it.

DIY grilled cheese party

Blog - 28.grilled cheese

A month ago today I celebrated my birthday. I always go back and forth about what I want to do for my birthday. Do we go out? Do we stay in? Do I plan it? Do I dare let anyone else take charge… (I know, bad). This year I went with a Grilled Cheese and Sangria Party (combining two of my faves!) We had a DIY Grilled Cheese Bar and boy was it a success! It was not only delicious but it was a ton of fun! We got very creative with our toppings including: apples, sundried tomatoes, spicy mayo, roasted red peppers, crushed doritos, Kraft Dinner, and nutella to name a few… and what’s grilled cheese without the cheese and bread? Well, we had six bread selections and twelve types of cheese to choose from!! Can you say YUM?!IMG_6927_asome of the ingredients…DSC_0023_a the tough part … the choices IMG_6947the easy part … eating!DSC_0057_athe aftermath…

sandwiches + sangria = great way to celebrate a birthday!
